During my time at the College of Nursing as their Student Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator, one of the largest projects I accomplished was the annual Year End Magazine. With the assistance and support of my workspace, we were able to expand the possibilities the MARCOM department can achieve in representing their college.

Setting the Theme

When determining the visual theme for the magazine, while evolving my skills in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, I explored everything the Adobe tools had to offer. This helped us see what was possible and what message we wanted to emphasize throughout these pages.

That's when I discovered how to create a 3D effect with images. From here on out, we saw the potential of using this effect throughout the magazines' theme, giving the illusion that the college's history (on their 65th anniversary) was coming to life.

In order to determine how to present each story and article in the magazine, I used this page to mess around and digitally see what would be the best template and style for the titles.

Coming to Life

After many collaborative sessions and consistent communication with my team, we had officially designed a magazine that stood out from its previous editions. A magazine highlighting the greatest achievements its' community has accomplished over the past 65 years. And it became a project near and dear to many audiences and colleagues at the university, having reminiscent themes of the 60s while still appealing to the current generation.

Celebrating the 65th Anniversary

The first story I finished designing for the magazine, bringing the college's founders to life and becoming the guide to the rest of the magazine.

Introducing the New Interim Dean

Inspired by the previous drafts of the dean's letter, I incorporated the interim dean's letter and imagery to help introduce her to the college's community as a warm and personable leader.
